I have been wanting to hit ice off at strawberry for years now. I finally did it and it was worth it. I thought for sure I would be sharing my spot on the shore with elbow to elbow dudes. We made it up 3 times this year and I think we saw a total of 3 people. I don't know if it was cause we went up on tuesdays or cause it was really really cold. Either way it was fun to get up there with Cort and catch some fish. I stole these pics from his blog. Next year I wanna make a bamboo rod that will handle one of these fish. Most of my bamboo rods I have made are in the 4wt range. Plus Strawberry has some pretty nasty wind most of the time.

Looking for a bigger taper...This winter, for the first time I made up a few rods on the PHY Para 15 with the wet/dry tips and its now my go-to big trout rod or big wind/water rod. It's best with a DT6 for long casts but a WF5 works if they're close in. The taper is just great for western rivers and punches a 100' of line without breaking a sweat. Use the streamer/wet tip and its just great for big fish, the lighter tip throws big dries like it was born for the work-
